Thirty people evacuated as fire breaks out at building on Wolverhampton's Tettenhall Road

Around 30 people had to be evacuated after fire broke out at a residential property in Wolverhampton.

Fire investigators are still determining the cause of the blaze at the three-storey building on Tettenhall Road which started around 6.40pm yesterday.

A total of 15 firefighters attended the scene from Bilston, Wolverhampton and Tettenhall, and battled the flames for around an hour and a half.

No-one was injured in the blaze and all residents were accounted for.

They were allowed to return to the building later in the evening apart from the room where the fire broke out.

Police attended and shut a stretch of the road off while crews were battling the fire but it was reopened before 11pm.

Watch commander Andy Howard from Wolverhampton fire station said fire investigators were still determining the cause.
