Human remains removed from side of M54

The remains of an unknown man have now been removed from the side of the M54 in Shifnal and a post-mortem is due to take place later this week.

A human skull and skeletal remains discovered near a slip road on the M54 last week and police said they have been there for at least two years.

Forensic teams have continued to search the area over the weekend to see if there were any more remains to be found.

A police spokesman said: "Police can confirm that following forensic examinations, excavations and searches carried out by specialist police officers and forensic officers, along with the support from forensic experts in archaeology and anthropology, the search has now been completed.

"The remains of a unknown man have now been recovered.

"A post-mortem is due on August 25, where further investigations will take place in view to identify the unknown man."

The eastbound M54 slip road at junction four, close to Priorslee and the Shifnal services, is due to reopen fully today.
