The 29 and 30-year-old men are suspected of killing a 59-year-old in Birmingham last night.

The pair were arrested at the scene on Brewers Square where police had been called shortly before 9.45pm by the ambulance service.

Despite the best efforts of police and medics the man - who has been identified but is not being named at this time - died at the scene. A post mortem will take place over the weekend to establish his precise cause of death.

Brewers Square remains sealed off this morning with drivers and pedestrians advised to avoid the area.

Detective Inspector Jim Munro said: "We're working to understand the motive for the murder. Initial house to house inquiries have been undertaken as officers and forensic experts continue their work at the property."

CCTV cameras in the area which may have captured vital clues have been identified with the footage set to be trawled later today.

Anyone with information should contact police on 101. Details can also be passed to the police anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
