Victims cut free after Staffordshire smash

Four people were taken to hospital following a two-car smash in Staffordshire.

Emergency services were called to the junction of Upper Landywood Lane and Landywood Lane, in Cheslyn Hay, at around 8.10pm last night.

Bloxwich and Cannock firefighters were called to the scene and used cutting equipment to cut the roof off one of the vehicles involved due to suspected injuries suffered by the driver and passengers.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman Jamie Arrowsmith said: "Three people were injured in one of the cars and the driver of the other vehicle also suffered minor injuries.

"The male driver of the first car suffered chest and pelvic injuries.

"In the same car, a female in her 60s suffered abdominal and lower leg pain.

"Another female passenger, who was in her 40s, suffered minor injuries.

"In the second car the driver, a man in his 30s, also suffered minor injuries.

"Three patients were taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital and one was taken to Walsall Manor Hospital."
