Research published by Birmingham-based accountancy firm UHY Hacker Young lists Walsall as one of four towns and areas in the West Midlands that are in the top 10 in the country in terms of economic growth.

The firm claims engineering and advanced manufacturing is powering a revival in the region's economies. Walsall is placed at fifth in the table for gross value added – the value of goods and services it produces – between 2009 and 2013.

Walsall Council's economy chief, Councillor Adrian Andrew said: "This research reveals that through hard work we're a successful town."
