Vicky Rhodes, aged 40, and Scott Braddick, 29, shift and store managers at One Stop on Sharon Way, Cannock, bathed for 12 hours in a concoction of foodstuffs – all for a good cause.

There was also a tombola and cake sale.

The day started at 8.30am for Vicky, who stayed in the bath until 3.30pm, with Scott taking over until 8.30pm.

Vicky said: "It was disgusting, I was sitting in carrots, peas, beans, spaghetti and even apricots – you name it and it was in there.

"It was absolutely freezing too, I was hoping that the sun would come out at some point.

"We kept pouring kettles of hot water in there, but it wasn't doing anything to warm me up."

The event raised £1,500 for Pancreatic Cancer UK and was organised in memory of Scott's father, Stephen, who died of the disease three years ago.

Vicky added: "This is the biggest community event we have ever done at our store.

"We had loads of people donating, joining in with the tombola and kids were there having fun – it was good for the community."

Pancreatic Cancer is one of the deadliest cancers because it usually remains undetected until it reaches an advanced stage, at which point it is often too late to cure.

It affects around 8,000 people in Britain a year.

Pancreatic Cancer UK provides support and information, fund innovative research and campaigns to raise awareness of the disease.
