Daniel Thorpe, 27, from Buxton, was discharged from hospital on Friday after suffering a broken leg and punctured lung.

He was described as being in a 'stable condition' after treatment at University Hospital Coventry.

Speaking from his hospital bed last week, Mr Thorpe, said: "I would like to thank everyone for their support which has been a great comfort to me at this time.

"In particular the emergency services, doctors, nurses and the rest of the team who have been looking after me and my family during this time have been fantastic.

"I'm now looking forward to getting better, getting home and getting back to normal."

Mr Thorpe was on the front row of The Smiler with girlfriend Vicky Balch, from Leyland, Lancashire. She was airlifted to hospital after the accident.

The two other victims travelling on the front row Leah Washington, who had her left leg amputated above the knee, and boyfriend Joe Pugh, are still recovering in hospital.
