Andy Hill captured the footage of the car swerving out into the middle of the A34 in Huntington and speeding over the white painted markings after the central reservation on his £12 dashboard camera he bought off eBay.

He estimated the mad motorist was travelling up to 50mph on the stretch which has a speed limit of 30mph.

"I was just horrifed," said Mr Hill.

"I just thought it was really silly to do something like that; an accident waiting to happen.

"He or she was not only endangering himself but other people as well.

"It's just not worth it these days.

"Sooner or later that person is going to have their comeuppance. Someone in authority will catch up with them.

"There is no excuse for it. Just crazy."

Mr Hill, 48 and from Cheslyn Hay, is a full-time carer for his mother who he was driving to County Hospital in Stafford at the time of the incident at about 12.20pm on Thursday.

The former Stafford Hospital radio manager has had the camera for about two years but it is the first time he has captured something like this happening.

He said thought it was a good idea to have the device in case he was ever involved in a collision on the road.

Mr Hill later posted a still from the footage to his Tweeter feed @CheslynHay1.

He started the page, which now has more than 380 followers, about three years ago when he became a full-time carer for his mother to keep people in the village informed about what is happening in the area.

"I just thought there was a gap for information online about what is happening in Cheslyn Hay," said Mr Hill.

"I have some good regular followers and the police follow me as well.

"I think it hopefully complements what other people and professionals like at the Express & Star are doing."
