At least eight fire engines were called to the blaze at Dudley Snooker & Pool Club on Stafford Street, which is believed to have started at around 2am.

There were fears that walls at the building, which was completely engulfed in flame, could collapse.

A structural engineer was called, and by 5am, firefighters said they had made 'good progress'.

This evening, firefighters released image of a specialist search dog working inside the building.

Flames spread into nearby buildings and at least one other business has been written off, according to fire crews.

The snooker club itself is set to be torn down in the next couple of days and has been fenced off as a precaution.

More details to follow throughout the day.
