Main Hednesford street to close for 12 weeks

Market Street in Hednesford is to be closed to drivers for up to 12 weeks.

South Staffs Water has begun the second half of its water mains improvement scheme .

During the work, pedestrians will still be able to access Market Street while diversions for vehicles are in place along Victoria Street onto Rugeley Road.

Those looking to visit Market Street by car can park at Tesco, Aldi or the Co-op.

Souths Staffs Water have said vehicles will be able to access shops and businesses, however, to ensure the work is carried out as safely and efficiently as possible it will be necessary to close Market Street to through traffic.

Mike Morris, network performance manager for South Staffs Water said: "We apologise for any inconvenience during the work and are confident following the work, Market Street will enjoy the improvements to their water supply for a long time to come.

"Recent bursts in the area highlight the importance of completing phase 2 to ensure customers and local businesses continue to receive a reliable, high quality water supply."
