Armed police carried out a search of a house in Oxbarn Avenue, Penn on Friday evening following concerns that Dylan Jackson, who is wanted for the alleged murder of Herman 'Louis' Simpson, was inside.

However, Mr Jackson's mother Lorna Finn, of Gorsebrook Road, Wolverhampton has questioned the heavy handed police response, saying her son would never carry a gun or a knife.

She does not believe he was responsible for the death of Mr Simpson, aged 47, who was found stabbed to death in his home in Compton Road at 8.30pm on Monday.

She added: "He is a very quiet, reserved and laid back person.

"If he had done something like that, he would have had to have been antagonised to some extent.

"He does not carry a knife and he has never carried a gun and I am sorry that a life has been lost.

"Please don't make my son out to be a murderer."

Police have identified Jackson, of Crosby Close, Whitmore Reans, as the suspect and called on people who may have information to 'do the honourable thing' and contact them.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
