Three Birmingham men charged with Syria-related terror offences

Three men from Birmingham have been charged with Syria-related terrorism offences.

The men who are alleged to have been attempting to leave the UK to travel to Syria and join the Islamic State group were arrested at Dover Port on Good Friday.

Gabriel Rasmus, aged 28, of Chain Walk Lozells, Anas Abdalla, aged 26, of Fox Hollies Road, Acocks Green and Mahamuud Diini, aged 25, of Coventry Road, Small Heath will appear at Westminster Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Two other men arrested at the same time are no longer suspected of terrorism offences but are being investigated by immigration authorities.

A woman also detained was told she faces no further action.
