Haul of precious Aston Villa programmes stolen in house burglary

A haul of precious Aston Villa programmes, including one signed by the European Cup winning side, has been taken in a burglary.

Thieves forced their way in through a rear window of a home in Belbroughton, near Stourbridge.

Officers say a number of match programmes were stolen from the address in Hockley Brook Lane

These include programmes from football matches in the 1950s, 1960s and of particular interest is a match day programme from the 1982 European Cup Final between Aston Villa and Bayern Munich.

West Mercia Police say this programme has been signed by all members of the Aston Villa winning team which makes is a sought after item.

A spokesman for the force said: "The injured party has worked hard to make this distinctive collection of programmes which he has collected over numerous years."

The burglary happened between 4pm on March 7 and 3pm on March 9. It is unclear at this stage if the burglary was carried out by more than one individual.

Anyone with any information is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident number 372 of 9th March 2015.
