Long running works at the A5 Churchbridge interchange were expected to be completed today after originally being delayed by two weeks.
However, the project will not be finished now until early March.
The revamp scheme by the Highways Agency began in July causing seven months of road closures and diversions.
The project included redesigning the approaches to the islands to ease traffic and installing traffic lights on three roundabouts.
As part of the work a cycle and pedestrian signal crossing has also been installed at the eastern roundabout.
