The Home Secretary visited the Express & Star's head office in Wolverhampton today and expressed her admiration for the region in the run up to the General Election.

The West Midlands has some of the key marginal seats that changed hands from Labour to the Conservatives in 2010, as well as some Labour just clung on to.

Mrs May took a tour of our newsroom and gave an exclusive interview about the Tories' chances in the election, child sex abuse and police station front desk closures.

She said: "If you look at issues around employment, manufacturing and development of business, the West Midlands is a key part of the country in those terms. The West Midlands has always had a crucial role to play."
