Plan for new £3m golf club near Wolverhampton approved

Plans for a clubhouse at a new £3 million golf club have been approved.

The 80-acre Essington Golf Course is already being built off Bognop Road, with players expected to able to start teeing off there from spring.

The clubhouse plan includes lounge, meeting room, kitchen, and 63 car parking spaces, The complex is set to create 50 jobs.

The plans have now been approved by South Staffordshire Council.

Councillor David Clifft said: "This is an exciting time with the approval of the planning permission for the club house. The development will enhance the site and bring much needed jobs to Essington. We are already looking at phase two, which will include a swimming pool and gym.

"This is widely supported by local residents. I will be meeting with the owners of the course in the next few weeks to discuss phase two and the number of jobs on offer to local residents."
