Walsall woman arrested over online holiday scam
A Walsall woman has been arrested in connection with a series of online scams where people handed over cash for summer holidays – only to discover they had lost their money.
Police were informed last year that a woman had been advertising caravan holidays in Rhyl and Devon for sale on Facebook and taking deposits for breaks which never transpired.
Potential holidaymakers contacted the 'owner' and paid a deposit via bank transfer but received nothing in reply.
In total the fraudster is believed to have pocketed over £900 from different victims of the crime.
Detectives made enquiries into those involved and this morning visited an address in Caldmore where a 26-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of fraud.
She remains in police custody this afternoon.
