The medals, along with a valuable Mappin and Webb gold watch, were taken from the home in Greenhill Road on December 27 between 5.15pm and 10.30pm.

The medals had been passed down from the 67-year-old homeowner's father. They were stored in display boxes.

The burglar forced entry into the house through a front door.

Police are appealing for information on the stolen items and the burglary. Anyone who can help should call 101.
