A 14-year-old schoolboy has been charged with attempted murder after a stabbing on a Dudley bus.

The teen, from Dudley, is accused of stabbing a 29-year-old man in Burton Road on Friday, after a row broke out on board a bus and spilled into the street.

It is alleged the attack - which left the victim needing hospital treatment for multiple stab wounds - also saw the accused punch the victim's 19-year-old girlfriend, leaving her with a cut eye. She was released from hospital after treatment.

The stabbing victim remains in hospital.

The boy was arrested near the scene and, after questioning by West Midlands Police detectives, was yesterday charged with attempted murder, wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and possessing a knife in public. He was set to appear in court today.

Police are still appealing for anyone who was on the No1 bus at around 9.25pm on Friday, or who saw a fight in the Burton Road, to contact Detective Sergeant Phil Pullinger in Force CID on the 101 number.

Alternatively people can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
