Now, Britain's most prolific TV quiz show contestant, David St John from Cannock has written a book detailing his escapades on various programmes.

Over the past 32 years, he has appeared on Fifteen to One, Eggheads, The Chase and The Weakest Link.

He put pen to paper on Yours Quizzically: Confessions Of A TV Quiz Addict a couple of months ago.

He said: "I went on my first quiz show in 1982 and I've been on about 36 shows since.

"I thought earlier this year: Why not write about it?"

The book features a short description of trivia mad Mr St John, who lives in Pebble Mill Drive, Cannock, his top tips on how to apply to be on a quiz show and his highs and lows from being on TV.

It also includes a summary of every single show he has appeared on.

Yours Quizzically: Confessions Of A TV Quiz Addict is available as an e-book on online retail site Amazon but Mr St John said if it was a success he would publish hard copies.

Mr St John's love affair with game shows began in 1982 when he appeared on Sale of the Century.

He stormed to victory and won two motorcycles before going on to face Daphne Fowler, former member of the Eggheads' team on BBC2, in an Australian version of the show.

Over the years he has won cash prizes for coming top of the scoreboard on shows such as Winner Takes All and Chain Letters in 1987, Star Quality in 1990, No Win No Fee in 2002 and Face the Clock in 2013.

But Mr St John says his biggest achievement is securing a place in the Guinness Book of Records.

He was crowned Britain's Most Prolific TV Quiz Show Contestant and now holds the record for the Most TV Quiz Appearances.

He added: "I've applied to be a few shows this year but not been successful. I'm hoping to host my own quiz show ni the future."
