The site in Doulton Road has been home to French logistics firm Norbert Dentressangle.

Proposals to build homes and apartments on the land have been supported by Sandwell Council.

It comes after bosses at the firm announced in August last year that they would be relocating its business to the East Midlands, with the loss of 140 jobs. Workers were given the chance to transfer to the new site.

The plans are for 218 homes and a retail development has also been proposed as part of the project.

There would be for a mixture of two to four bedroom houses and one to two bedroom apartments.

The firm said there was 'no reasonable prospect' of the site being used for employment purposes in the future.
