Burger King is planning to open a new branch in a Walsall shopping centre.

The fast food giant wants to take over an empty unit in the Saddlers Shopping Centre and plans have been submitted with Walsall Council.

The chain has operated an outlet in Park Street for years and is now seeking permission from council planners for the site in the centre.

The application states: "The new occupier will improve the facilities available in the shopping centre and will increase both footfall and activity.

"It is also the intention of Burger King to operate during the current shopping centre hours, negating the possibility of inactivity during daytime hours and adding to the vitality of the shopping centre."

It is not known at this stage how many jobs will be created and a decision on the application has not yet been made.
