Details of a new bus that will run between Wolverhampton and the i54 business park have been announced as part of a raft of service changes.

The new 54 bus will run between Wolverhampton city centre, the i54, Pendeford Business Park and Bilbrook.

It will replace the 25A and 25C services, which currently run between the two areas.

Preparations are being finalised in and around the i54.

Construction is taking place on a new link road to connect the park, which will be home to Jaguar Land Rover's new £500 million engine plant, to the M54 motorway.

Once the work is complete in late autumn, all cars and lorries will enter and leave the site using the new junction and slip roads. And a CCTV-monitored bus lane is being installed near to the i54, which the 54 bus will use.

The service will operate Monday to Saturday up to every 30 minutes, with additional journeys at peak times.

Alterations have been made to other bus services across the Black Country, with the number 1 bus between Wolverhampton and Dudley now running later into the evening,

A Centro spokesman said of the changes: "In a small number of cases we have also made alterations to routes and timetables to make services more efficient.

"This was carried out after looking at passenger usage as well as by seeing where links can be improved to areas of employment, retail and education."

Evening and Sunday journeys on the 27 will be provided by a different bus company.
