Detailed plans for the scheme will go on display to the public for the first time next week.

Up to 130 stores, restaurants and a multi-screen cinema are included in the development, which would create around 800 new jobs.

A two-day public exhibition will take place at South Staffordshire College's Cannock Campus in The Green next Friday and Saturday.

Giles Membrey, managing director of developers Rioja Developments, said: "The views of local people are extremely important to us and we look forward to welcoming residents, businesses and members of the local community to the public exhibition.

"This is an opportunity to not only find out more and ask questions but to help shape our proposals."

People will be able to have their say on the plans before they are submitted to Cannock Chase Council later this year.

The retail village earmarked for land off Lichfield Road next to Mill Green Nature Reserve is expected to include big high street names such as Superdry, Paul Smith and Ralph Lauren.

It will also feature five or six restaurants, a huge new cinema and a 2,000-space car park.

London-based architects Holder Mathias have designed the proposed development .
