Spencer Chatwin, from West Bromwich, is said to have complained of chest pains while at the Snowbombing bash at the Mayrhofen ski resort on Monday.

He became ill at around 4pm and later died.

His death has been confirmed by the foreign office and friends have paid tribute to the 'all round nice guy' on Twitter.

Mr Chatwin, who believed to have worked for Jaguar Land Rover, lived in Bilhay Street, West Bromwich with his family. They are now being supported by the Foreign Office.

His family declined to comment on his death today saying they were still coming to terms with what had happened.

A spokesman for the Foreign Office said: "We were made aware of the death of a British national, Spencer Chatwin, on April 7 in Austria. We are providing consular assistance to the family at this difficult time."

Event organisers at Snowbombing said they have now contacted Mr Chatwin's family and offered their condolences. They are also helping with an investigation.

A spokeswoman for the event said: "On Monday a 25-year-old man was pronounced dead in Mayrhofen, Austria.

"We are currently liaising with the authorities who are looking into this tragic incident.

"We have offered every assistance. His next of kin have now been contacted and our thoughts are with them."
