Broken down train leads to delays

A freight train broke down in Wolverhampton causing long delays for rush hour commuters.

The train broke down north of the city blocking the Shrewsbury line and Liverpool line at around 5.30pm.

Engineers managed to tow the train off the line at 6.10pm, but there was a backlog of delayed trains.

There were no trains cancelled, but some trains travelling towards Liverpool and Shrewsbury faced delays of up to 40 minutes.
