No let-up to come as West Midlands cold snap goes on
Temperatures across the West Midlands are not expected to rise above -2C (28F) this week as the cold snap continues to hit the region.
Forecasters have predicted the coldest Easter on record with the bitter Arctic blast showing no signs of easing and some parts of the country facing temperatures of around -10C (14F).
In the West Midlands, the bitterly cold conditions were continuing today with temperatures of -3C (26.6F), although some sunny spells are expected to break through into the afternoon.
Light sleet or snow flurries are expected to scatter the region.
Forecasters said frost patches would develop overnight with the possibility of further snow, with temperatures hovering around -2C (28.4F).
Predictions for the remainder of the week and into April suggest further unsettled conditions are expected, with "heavy snow at times". Forecasters added that snow threatens the
Midlands and the South on Easter Saturday as a band of rain moves in from the Atlantic.
Forecaster Andrew Sibley said today: "It is going to remain bitterly cold through the week with easterly winds keeping temperatures below freezing at night and just above during the day. There are likely to be more wintry showers along the east coast as this weather persists throughout the week."
