David Beckham in Birmingham Queen Elizabeth Hospital visit

He may be busy considering his next career move – but superstar footballer David Beckham found time to visit patients at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

The former England captain is this week reportedly jet-setting round the globe to assess offers from England, China, Australia and the Middle East.

But yesterday, Golden Balls brought some star quality to the region when he dropped into Birmingham, along with Hollywood A-lister, tough-guy actor Ray Winstone, to meet injured soldiers and their families in the mixed trauma ward.

He also visited young cancer patients at the Teenage Cancer Trust's Young Persons Unit.

Kieran Beard, aged 23, Adam Woods and James Freeman, both 21, had their spirits raised by the ex-LA Galxy footballer, who spent-an-hour-and-a-half at the hospital.
