Black Country singer Beth Sherburn to release single

Beth Sherburn is hoping 2013 will be a year to, quite literally, sing about – as she is on the brink of releasing her first single.

The 21-year-old is on her way to stardom after she was spotted singing while working behind a perfume counter at Debenhams in Dudley's Merry Hill shopping centre.

Music producer John McLaughlin, who was shopping nearby, was so impressed when he heard her that he asked her to call him about a recording session.

Now Beth, who has loved singing for as long as she can remember, is on the verge of releasing a single and an album.

The single – a cover of Duran Duran's Ordinary World – is due out on January 28 and Beth, who lives in Lower Gornal, says she's had an amazing time in the build-up to it.

"It's just so bizarre that this all started in my workplace. It was just a normal day and that's what's so amazing."
