Wolves striker Kevin Doyle has been banned from the road for speeding. The 28-year-old was caught breaking the 70mph speed limit along the M6 Toll.

The Irish international has now been banned from driving for 49 days and ordered to pay £465 in fines and costs.

Doyle, whose cars include a Porsche Cayenne and BMW X5, pleaded guilty to speeding.

He did not appear at the hearing at North Staffordshire Magistrates Court on Tuesday, instead entering his plea through barrister Bernard Thorogood.

The court heard how he was spotted speeding on the toll road near Cannock on March 12.

It was two days after Wolves' 2-0 home defeat to Blackburn Rovers, which sparked protests outside Molineux.

Around 300 fans assembled outside the ground after the game, calling for the heads of club owner Steve Morgan and Jez Moxey and accusing them of dooming the team to relegation.

The club today declined to comment on Doyle's speeding case.

As well as the driving ban, Doyle, who signed for Wolves for a £6.5 million fee in 2009, was fined £365 with £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge. The striker was today training at Wolves' base in Compton Park.
