Defiant grandmother Louise Johnson was today able to toast her success in defying rioters threatening to wreck her Wolverhampton business.

The 52-year-old from Heath Town was ecstatic after grateful Struan Robertson presented her with a bottle of champagne.

The boss of the Prima Donna women's fashion shop that has been in Queen Street, for four years, had good reason to say thank you to her. Miss Johnson saved his store from the rampaging mob while bravely protecting her hairdressing salon next door that she has run for almost two years.

She kept the thugs at bay by furiously warning them to keep away on Tuesday.

Mr Robertson handed the champagne to Miss Louise Johnson and said: "It is all down to her. She stood defiantly outside her shop keeping the rioters away.

"Then she rang me to say that she had saved my shop. I cannot thank her enough. I had moved the stock out before leaving that afternoon because I felt that trouble was brewing. The people running riot have got no brains. What message does their behaviour send out to the rest of the world?"

Miss Johnson, who has four children and five grandchildren, said: "I am delighted to get the champagne. It was a lovely gesture. I was pleased to help because the law abiding people have got to stick together - especially at times like these."
