Three men were this afternoon found guilty of murdering a takeaway delivery driver in Wolverhampton as his wife gave birth in hospital.

Brothers Shakil and Idris Mohammed, and their neighbour Nasar Abbas, attacked Muhammed Farooq in an alleyway behind Flames in Chapel Ash, where he worked part time.

Mr Farooq left his wife Babra at their home in nearby Merridale Street West promising to return in 15 minutes.

The couple were packed and ready to go to New Cross Hospital for the birth of their daughter on September 28 last year.

Mr Farooq, aged 40, had gone to collect less than £100 wages before returning to be by his 32-year-old wife's side. The child was delivered five hours later with his wife still unaware of the fact he had been murdered. The heartbreaking news was later given to her by detectives.

Shakil Mohammed, aged 25, brother Idris, 30, and 24-year-old Abbas, all of St Marks Road, Chapel Ash, this afternoon stood stony-faced in the dock at Wolverhampton Crown Court as a jury found them each guilty of murder after 12 hours 29 minutes of deliberation.

The group had been drinking together in a back room at Flames for two hours before he arrived and attacked him as he left through the back door.

When they realised that he had driven there with his cousin Toseef Ahmed, 23, they attacked and robbed him before he could flee.

The Mohammed brothers and Abbas were this afternoon all also convicted of robbing Mr Ahmed. They wil be sentenced at a later date.

The jury were this afternoon continuing their deliberations in the case of a fourth man, Ali Wazir, aged 31, from Rayleigh Road, Bradmore, who has also been charged with the murder of Mr Farooq.
