More stray ponies have been spotted roaming around the streets of Dudley - this time wandering in front of the town's leisure centre.

Five brown horses sauntered along Wellington Road yesterday afternoon, to the bemusement of residents and motorists.

It was the latest sighting of the animals which have been plaguing the borough.

They were eventually ushered on to grassland next to Dudley Leisure Centre to try to keep them safe.

Property developer Simon Ward, aged 48, who is working in the area, was once again on hand to help out after previously joining Dudley resident Nathan Astley to care for three other horses.

"I was coming up the road and I could see them scared and thought I had to get them away from the cars," he said.

"It was very difficult to approach them because they were so scared but eventually we were able to get them on to the grass.

"I've lost all faith in the enforcement authorities now because this is still happening day after day."

Dudley Council spokeswoman Katherine Finney said the authority was working with police and the RSPCA.
