These two suspected metal thieves were being hunted by detectives today after making off with cable from a Midland Metro stop in the Black Country.

The young suspects used a tool to prise their way into a power sub station at the Priestfield stop in Wolverhampton, before taking just minutes to remove the equipment and leave.

Today a £500 reward was on offer for information leading to the conviction of the pair, one of whom appears to be carrying cabling over his shoulder in the picture.

Officers said the break-in triggered an alarm that alerted staff to the fault. The men struck at the stop, off John Street, between 10.30pm and 11.30pm on September 17.

Dc Sharon Starkey, of British Transport Police, said today: "We believe the two men captured on CCTV will have information which can assist us.

"I would urge anyone who recognises the men in the photographs, or who knows their whereabouts, to contact BTP straight away."

Contact BTP on 0800 40 50 40 and quote incident number 272 of September 22, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
