Staffordshire University is hoping to expand its Stafford campus by building a new 264-room hall of residence at Beaconside.

University property managers say it is part of plans to increase its presence in Stafford and that no existing accommodation will be demolished.

Formal plans have been lodged with Stafford Borough Council and are now being considered by planning control officers.

The Beaconside campus offers engineering, technology and computing courses, plus nursing, midwifery and mental health programmes.
