Walsall Mayor's chauffeur Jaz Jassal will be swapping the steering wheel for a chopping board when he goes head to head with trainee chef James Boulton for a fundraising feast,

Jaz and James are holding a Curry Contest in aid of the Mayor of Walsall's Charity Appeal for blind and deaf residents on Friday 30 April.

The pair will be cooking three dishes each and inviting members of the audience to take part in taste tests and give scores to the food they sample.

The Curry Contest is being stage at Jerome's Restaurant at Walsall College, Wisemore, where James is a trainee chef, and tickets cost

£15 each.

Jaz, who lives in Walsall and has been a Mayoral chauffeur for 13 years, said: "James and I are really looking forward to showing off our cooking skills and it's all for a good cause.

"It's going to be a great night out and we're definitely ready for things to hot up in and out of the kitchen as our guests mark our efforts."

The Mayor, Councillor John O'Hare, said: "Jaz has come up with a super idea to help boost my charity appeal and I'm sure he and James will be working hard on their signature dishes before the big night."

The event is on at 7pm for 7.30pm and parking is free.
