Stour back to winning ways after a rocky patch

It was sweet victory for Stourbridge as they secured a home victory against South Leicester in the National Two North.

Following a rocky couple of games, nothing was going to stop Stourbridge took a 12-6 victory against 13th-placed South Leicester.

They are currently battling to stay above the bottom two. It wasn't all plain sailing for Stour, they beat South Leicester in a scrappy, error-strewn affair.

But they had to rely on the kicking of outside-half Chris Scott to drag them back from a 6-0 half-time deficit. A penalty in the first-half by the visitors' outside half Rickie Aley had put them ahead, but the second half saw Stour come back stronger.

By keeping possession and applying pressure, persistent offending led to the sin-binning of winger Blane Howe with just 15 minutes left to go.

With Scott slotting the penalty and putting Stourbridge ahead, the hosts put the final nail in South Leicester's coffin with a final penalty to win the game.

They welcome second-placed Sedgley Park on Saturday.

Old Halesonians secured their fourth consecutive victory with an 10-8 win against Birmingham & Solihull in the National Three Midlands. The second-half saw Birmingham fight back from being 10-0 down but Hales continued to battle hard.

That's despite being reduced to 13 players following yellow cards in the 70th minute, Birmingham converting the score to 8-10 a minute later. Old Hales travel to Bromsgrove next.

Lichfield lost 17-15 to Longton. Walsall fell to their fourth consecutive loss against Stoke-on-Trent in the Midlands One, while Dudley Kingswinford suffered a narrow 26-24 defeat to 11th-placed Crewe & Nantwich.

In Midlands Two, Kidderminster Carolians lost 16-5 to fourth-placed Wolverhampton. Stourbridge Lions bagged a 29-5 win over seventh-placed Stafford.

In the Midlands Three, Wednesbury entertained second-placed Ludlow and managed to come away with a 19-8 victory. Wednesbury welcome Wolverhampton next.

Seventh-placed Burntwood feel to their fifth consecutive loss with an 20-8 defeat against Eccleshall.

They travel to Aston Old Edwardians next. In the Midlands Four, Aldridge won 15-13 against bottom club Market Drayton.
