Adam Jones is training for the Stratford Half Marathon and will run alongside his brother and brother-in-law.

The 13 mile event will take place on April 26.

The 31-year-old, from The Turnberry Estate in Bloxwich, has set himself a fundraising target of £3,000.

Mr Jones, who owns his own building company said: "At Christmas my brother-in-law said he wanted to do it and the three of us decided to go for it together."

Mr Jones will be running with his brother, Tom Jones, and brother in law Liam Reynolds and already there is a fair amount of friendly competition between the boys

He said: "The whole training thing is new to me so I am having three personal training sessions a week with Luke Grimley at Fitness First in Cannock. There is competition between us and this is my first half marathon and my first charity event. The other two are as fit as a fiddle, I am the outsider.

He added: "I just wanted to do something to challenge myself. We completed dry January and raised a few hundred pounds but we all wanted to do something more challenging. I hope to complete it in under two hours. I am up to about five miles now so I still have a fair way to go."

Mr Jones added: "Those who know me well understand how hard it is for me to admit how hard I have found the last eight years after losing my Dad.

"He died suddenly of a massive heart attack on a Wednesday night and my family's life changed forever. I am running in his memory."

"Hopefully the money raised will go towards helping people with heart disease and maybe save someone's life so that their family don't have to go through what mine has."
