To mark her 65th birthday, Carole Weaver decided to take part in a tandem skydive.

Because both of her grandsons attend Castlefields Primary School in Bridgnorth, she decided to use the event to raise money to improve its outdoor area.

She was due to take on her skydive on the August Bank Holiday Monday at Tilstock Airfield but it had to be cancelled due to bad weather.

Luckily, she was able to reschedule a space for the jump with Go Skydive near Salisbury and as weather conditions were favourable, she managed to complete her challenge.

She said: "It was a little terrifying particularly the freefall of 5,000 feet before the parachute opened but once back on the ground I was so pleased with myself for having the courage to do it."

She added: "Initially my family were asking me what I wanted to do for my birthday and I said I hadn't really given it any thought.

"My daughter's husband had done a skydive, so she said why didn't I try that and I said no, but afterwards I thought, why not?

"If I could do the skydive and raise a bit of money for the school, that would be a good thing to do.

Once the chute went up that was really enjoyable because we were just floating down."

Mrs Weaver thanked everyone who had sponsored her.
