The Bloodhound SSC is currently on show in the foyer at Walsall College's Wisemore Campus.

The college and the Black Country University Technical College have joined forces to host the vehicle until Saturday.

Schoolchildren and members of the local community got the opportunity to explore the vehicle, learn more about how it works and experience its speed through a simulator.

The Bloodhound SSC is being built by British engineers and aims to beat the current 763mph land speed record in South Africa next year.

See our infographic on the facts and figures behind The Bloodhound SSC:

Its engine produces more than 135,000 horsepower, which is six times the power of 22 Formula One cars on a starting grid combined.

The supersonic car has been in development since 2008.

The Bloodhound team are running free Key Stage 3 workshops for local schools, where up to 120 pupils each day will be able to create and race their own model rocket cars.
