Jobs on the way as hinge firm set to expand

A Tipton business will be revamped and extra jobs created after expansion plans were given the green light. more

Plans to expand the Simonswerk UK site in Spring Street have been given the go-ahead by Sandwell Council planners.

The firm applied to add extra floor space to its premises and 12 additional car parking spaces.

A report submitted by the firm stated: "The proposals represent a major expansion of the existing works and continuing investment in Sandwell with increased job prospects and employment.

"The proposals will transform the overall site with thoroughly modern design appearance and upgraded extensions and facilities.

"It also presents an opportunity to build on the skilled labour base locally and train more staff in a solid manufacturing base employment with its brand base headquarters in Tipton and West Bromwich."

Council planners granted permission with three conditions - including that the firm makes sure there is adequate off-street parking.
