Have you noticed, writes Peter Rhodes, how the drought fanatics are becoming like the global-warming fanatics, warning of death and destruction unless we mend our ways?
And as with global warmers, the drought-apocalypse lobby is spouting statements which are patently untrue.
Take, for example, the much-repeated assertion that rain falling at this time of year is useless because it either evaporates or is taken up by plants.
No, it isn't. Just watch the stuff, pouring down the street and into the drains. It is filling up streams, rivers and lakes.
It is extremely useful rain and why would anyone tell us otherwise?
