BHSEA wins gold at Safety Groups UK Awards
Birmingham Health, Safety and Environment Association (BHSEA) is delighted to announce that it has been awarded a Gold Award at this year’s Safety Groups UK (SGUK) Awards, in recognition of the outstanding work of its Training Committee.
The awards ceremony took place on Thursday, November 13, at IOSH HQ in Wigston, celebrating organisations and individuals who have demonstrated excellence and innovation in health, safety, and environmental training and development.
SGUK, a registered charity established in 1947, coordinates a national network of around 73 voluntary local health and safety groups across the UK. Its mission is ‘to promote health and safety by supporting a thriving national network of health and safety Groups.’ The SGUK Innovation Awards incorporate the Lord Cullen Trophy to recognise health and safety innovation.
This year, BHSEA was also awarded the Albert Porter Rose Bowl after its member, Stop N Go, won the Lord Cullen Trophy - a further testament to the Association’s commitment to advancing health and safety standards.
BHSEA’s Training Committee is a group of dedicated volunteers responsible for overseeing and facilitating the association’s training, mentoring, and professional development activities. The Committee helps BHSEA achieve its objective of promoting health, safety, and wellbeing in the workplace through shared learning and good practice.
The SGUK Gold Award recognises their exceptional contribution in delivering high-quality initiatives that have strengthened health, safety, and environmental standards across the region.
Commenting on the achievement, BHSEA Safety Group Chair Ken Davies and Senior Lecturer at Wolverhampton College, said: "We are honoured to receive this prestigious award. It’s a wonderful recognition of our Training Committee volunteers, whose dedication and passion for training and professional development make a real difference in workplace health and safety across the region."
