Former West Bromwich NHS offices set to become 128 new apartments after building sells for £2.5m
A former Black Country office block is set to become 128 new apartments after the building changed hands this week.
Six-storey Kingston House, on West Bromwich High Street, has been purchased for £2.5 million by a property investment company.
The building, a former NHS office block, has been bought by Cheshire developer TheStudios, with planning permission for a scheme of 128 co-living apartments already in place, having been granted by Sandwell Council earlier this year.
The development would be the latest high-profile Midlands residential development for the company, who also renovated the former 1960's Carillion office block in Wolverhampton in 2018, turning it into 218 studio apartments. The final phase of the Wolverhampton renovation was completed last year.

Now, the firm, headed by Director Barry Glantz, is turning its eyes to West Bromwich with a similar development.
Under a planning application approved in March, the building has permission to be turned into small studio flats – marketed as ‘co-living accommodation’ – which range in size from just over 15 to 27 square metres, and come with an en-suite bathroom and kitchenette. Shared facilities include kitchens, a communal lounge and work space, a gym, a cinema room and an outdoor terrace.
James Mattin, managing director of commercial property agents Bond Wolfe, who handled the sale, said: “We are delighted to have concluded yet another prominent high street sale in West Bromwich.
“Kingston House was formerly a multi-let office building and will now be repurposed following the successful application for conversion to 128 residential units.
“This new deal signifies a further positive change to the landscape of the local high street, following our previous sale of 178 Birmingham Road on behalf of Green Square Accord Housing Association.
“The new owners of Kingston House are experienced property developers, best known for their quality residential redevelopment of the former Carillion headquarters in Wolverhampton.
“We now look forward to a similar bright future for Kingston House.”
Kingston House is currently a six-storey, detached and freehold office building that extends to over 40,000 square feet, with 106 onsite car parking spaces.
