O'Connor and his 52-year-old victim had lived together as friends in Bilston, but now a jury at Stoke Crown Court has found him guilty of murdering her in 2021 before dumping her body in a lay-by and setting her on fire.

Detective Chief Inspector Dan Ison, senior investigating officer, told the Express & Star: "Colin O'Connor is a dishonest manipulator. He has a history of surrounding himself to vulnerable people, especially women in the Wolverhampton area.

"Within a few days of the investigation we made him our main suspect. He lied from the start."

O'Connor, aged 58, made the detectives' job easier by wearing the same Wolves shirt in the days between killing his victim and setting her body alight in a Perton lay-by.

DCI Ison said: "Witnesses said they saw a man in an orange top next to a small car in the lay-by, and we could easily spot him on CCTV footage in his orange Wolves top."

After murdering Jomaa, O'Connor stored her body in a freezer he tried to tell police he had won in a competition but had in fact bought from Argos just over a month before Jomaa's body was found.

However, O'Connor did not realise the freezer had traces of Jomaa's DNA inside, which became a key piece of evidence for the prosecution during the murder trial.
