DNA from woman's body dumped in lay-by was found in killer's freezer, court told
The DNA of a murdered woman whose body was burned was found inside a freezer belonging to a man on trial for her killing, a court heard.
Clive O'Connor is on trial for the murder of Jomaa Jerrare from Heath Town, whose badly burnt body was found in a lay-by in Bridgnorth Road, Perton just after 2am on August 9, 2021.
His trial started at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Tuesday, with the prosecution saying the chest freezer also contained stains and a piece of cotton with DNA linked to the murdered woman.
The court heard despite O'Connor saying he had won the freezer in a competition, card payment records showed he had purchased it from Argos on July 5 for £209.19.
As part of the investigation into the 52-year-old's death, police acquired an identical model of freezer, with an officer of similar size and stature to Ms Jerrare testing whether he could easily fit inside.
