MP Michael Fabricant in 'rip off' warning to supermarkets over inflated food prices
Lichfield MP Michael Fabricant has warned supermarkets not to rip off customers with inflated prices once food prices start to fall.
Mr Fabricant has called on the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) to keep a close eye on the prices charged by stores – particularly once the war in Ukraine has ended.
He said supermarkets must "rapidly reflect" cheaper prices and not follow those fuel retailers who kept prices high despite a fall in the price of world oil.
Chancellor Jeremy Hunt this week met food manufacturers to raise concerns over the impact of price inflation on struggling households.
