Woman left with 'life changing' physical and mental injuries after argument over £30
An argument over £30 between two people who lived in the same high rise block of flats in Birmingham led to one of them being stabbed and suffering 'life changing injuries.'
At Wolverhampton Crown Court, Paul Garland, aged 45 of Guild Close, Birmingham was handed an 11 year jail term with seven to be served behind bars for the attack on Letitia Kavanagh on March 5 this year.
He had earlier pleaded guilty to three counts: Wounding with intent, threats to kill and intentional strangulation.
The court heard both lived in on the third floor of the flats in Ladywood and were friendly, spending time in each others respective homes.
On the day, an arrangement was made where Ms Kavanagh would transfer £30 into Mr Garland's account and he would withdraw it from a cashpoint, as she didn't have a bank account.
