Overrunning works cause delays to 'all rail services through Birmingham New Street'
An 'overrunning engineering works' is causing a suspension on the Cross-City South route between Redditch and Birmingham currently.
A tweet from West Midlands Railway says that route is likely to be suspended south bound all morning but that all services through Birmingham New Street may be affected.
Rail replacement transport has been ordered between Longbridge and Redditch.
Initially, West Midlands Railway stated that the delays were due to 'operational issues' but have since clarified that it is due to engineering works going over the expected time.
Avanti West Coast have said: "Due to engineering works not being finished on time between Birmingham New Street and Birmingham International all lines are blocked. Trains running through these stations may be cancelled, delayed or diverted via Aston."
