Dramatic pictures show accident in Lower Gornal which caused extensive damage - including to a police vehicle

Dramatic pictures posted by the fire service show an accident in Lower Gornal involving a police car on Saturday (July 12).

A car rolled over outside Summit Garage, Himley Road and a police vehicle also suffered extensive damage.

Dudley Fire Station posted the pictures on its Facebook page saying: "Car in collision with Police car responding to an incident on blue lights.

"One male driver was taken to hospital for precautionary checks and both Police officers received no injuries. 

"Crews from West Midlands Fire Service and Officialwmas along with West Midlands Police worked incredibly hard in difficult temperatures. 

"Car was removed from roadway using a Tirfor and made safe."

The incident happened outside Summit Garage in Himley Road, Lower Gornal at around 4pm on Saturday, with the road re-opened by 6.30pm.
